JOANNA FRESZEL

A graduate of the vocal class of Prof. Jadwiga Rappé at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. She earned her PhD in 2019. She has held scholarships from the Polish Ministry of Culture (2010, 2011), Pro Polonia (2011) and Młoda Polska (2014) programmes. She was awarded the Magna cum Laude medal (2013) and was shortlisted for the “Passport” award (2010, 2012) of the “Polityka” weekly. Her debut album real life song received two nominations to the Fryderyk award (2016) and won the Golden Orpheus award (“Orphée d'Or”), granted by l'Academie du Disque Lyrique, in recognition of her outstanding discographic contribution. She received awards in numerous vocal competitions in Poland and abroad and appeared at several festivals including Warsaw Autumn, Aix-en Provence, Contrechamps, Musica Polonica Nova, 7 Currents and 7 Premieres, Silesian Quartet & Its Guests, Saaremaa Opera Days, Opera in the Town Hall Festival in Tallinn and many others. She collaborates with the Estonian National Opera, where she made her debut as Marguerite in Gounod’s Faust (2012), with Polish National Opera i Warsaw (Eros and Psyche by
L. Różycki, 2017) and with St. Moniuszko Opera Hause in Poznań (Susanna, Figaro Gets a Divorce by E. Langer, 2017 / Anhelli by D. Przybylski, 2019)

The artist has cooperated with many orchestras: Österreichisches Ensemble für Neue Musik, Ereprijs Orkestr, AUKSO, New Music Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia, Sinfonia Iuventus, Warsaw Philharmonic, Świętokrzyska and Silesian Philharmonic, Philharmonic Orchestra in Szczecin, Białystok and Krakow, Capella Bydgostiensis, Philharmonic Orchestra in Lviv, Odessa, Donetsk and Chernihiv. She obtained her Master of Science in Environmental Studies at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences.
